First Weekly Drawing…

And we have a winner!!

Just so you know everything is on the up and up, here is a lovely photo essay of the process:

Over the seven days, there were 50 comments made by 10 different people.  Some commented as many as every day and some commented only 2 or 3 times.  My adorable helpers in the photos are my two older boys, Mike and Tim and they thought this was great fun helping out with my “knitting stuff”.

Without anymore delay, the name that Mike drew out was…… Pat!! The actual comment that he drew out was Pat’s comment from the 22nd to my “Not a Fall Pattern” post.  So congratulations Pat!  I’ll be emailing you the seven patterns from this week very shortly.  Thank you to everyone else for cheering me on this week and your comments will stay in the pumpkin (or most likely some other container because the boys usually take it for trick-or-treating), for the drawing at the end of the challenge.

And I start Week Two

Challenge Day 8

I’ve made it through one complete week of this challenge and I’m very proud of myself. I’m settling in very nicely to a routine of posting every afternoon while my son naps and knitting for the remainder of his naptime and during the evening while I watch T.V. Today however, I think most of naptime will be spent on the computer, printing off comments and picking out a winner for our first (of what I hope will be many) weekly prize drawing. Everyone who left me a comment this week is eligible and entered to win. The prize consists of pdf files of each of the patterns that I added to the website this week. (Sorry no substitutions for other patterns.)

Today’s pattern is another one of my Back-to-School patterns that has be lounging around since last year, just waiting to be typed and test knitted. It’s a School Bus, and I knit it in a bright cheery yellow. The blocking came out a bit funky and it looks a little warped in this picture. I may have to try to re-block it because I think it definetly looks a bit weird.

Like all the other patterns that I’ve been blogging about, this one is available for purchase for $1.49 and can be found on the New page in the main section of Designs by Emily.

Later this week I’ll be adding another pattern for Back-to-School, one for Thanksgiving, two sea animals, and the one that I’m working on right now is a Winter themed cloth.  But I could always finish up some others that I want to add instead and I’m just teasing you by listing these!  You never know! :)

Watch this space later today for an update about our Weekly Challenge Winner.

A cookie pattern

Challenge Day 7

I made it through the week!  And I’ve been knitting all afternoon so I’m pretty sure I’ll have no problem making it through this next week as well.

Today’s pattern I’ve been sitting on for almost a year, believe it or not.  Last year when I designed the Gingerbread Man, I got so much great feedback about it and several people asked for a Gingerbread Girl to go with him.  It was very easy to modify the pattern to make a matching girl.  With the holidays, I had forgotten that I had actually knit the pattern up, and all Spring I kept thinking, “I really have to knit that pattern so I can put it up on the site.”  Then sometime during the summer I was going through my dishcloth picture file and I found a picture of it!  I didn’t even know where the actual cloth was, because I have piles and piles of dishcloths all over the place.  After some rummaging around I found it, made a better scan of it, and then decided to hold on to it until it got a little closer to the holidays.

So, finally, after a year of waiting, here is the Gingerbread Girl.

The pattern is available for purchase for $1.49 from the New page.

If you are planning on getting in on the drawing for all of this week’s patterns, you still have time to get your comments in.  I will close out the comments for all of this week’s posts tomorrow morning sometime.  Actually it will probably not be until tomorrow afternoon, so you’ll have a little extra time.  Then I’ll draw out the lucky name and announce the winner for the first week of the Challenge.

I’ll be pressing on for a second week, so cheerleaders…get ready!!  We start all over again tomorrow!

Almost done with Week 1!

Challenge Day 6

I’ve managed to make it through 6 days of my challenge and I definitely can make it through a few more. My pile of patterns is dwindling down, but if I knit like crazy this weekend, I can get it back up again.  I have a whole bunch of typed up patterns that I just need to get busy on and knit!

The pattern that I added today is another one that I don’t think I’ve seen anywhere before.  It’s a Kiwi.  Not the fruit, but the bird.  I saw a similar image one day while browsing through Google for ideas and I thought it would make a great cloth.  Here’s a picture:

This pattern is available for purchase on the New page for $1.49.

I haven’t decided yet which pattern I’ll be adding tomorrow.  It will either be one (of two) for Back-to-School, one for Thanksgiving, or one for Christmas.  Maybe I’ll do the Christmas one so that way there will be a nice assortment for the first week’s winner in the drawing for the patterns.

Speaking of the drawing for the first week, don’t forget to add your comment today!  Remember, you can comment once per day to increase your chances for the drawing at the end of the week.  Tomorrow is Day 7.  I will keep the comments open until I get up on Monday and close them all down for the whole week.  Then I’ll print off all the comments for the entire week, cut them apart, fold them up and put them in some container.  I’ll have one of my boys draw out the lucky winner and I’ll post the result here in the blog on Monday and email the patterns off to you.  I will save all those comment slips for the drawing at the end of the challenge.  I would use some sort of random number generator except for the fact that I’m going to have the drawing at the end and that will just be too difficult counting up throughout all the weeks.  I think this will work just as well.  I will even post pictures of the whole process to keep it honest.

Thanks again to all my cheerleaders.  I’m defintely motivated to keep knitting for you!
